VERBAL MEANS OF REPRESENTING THE CONCEPT NEGATION IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract:  The article is devoted to the analysis of various verbal means representing the concept NEGA-TION in natural (English) language. Different views on the essence of negation developed in philosophy, logics and cognitive linguistics are considered. Negation is approached as a cognitive and linguistic phenomenon fundamentally important to human thinking. Functioning of the negation category at dif-ferent language levels is presented; prototypical means of its expression are highlighted.
