Abstract:  The authors believe that it is necessary to investigate folk-tales to form linguistic, discursive and socio-cultural competences of the students who study a foreign language. This helps them to more naturally integrate into the ethno-cultural space. Conceptual opposition OBEDIENCE / DISOBEDIENCE proves to be one of the most important in this process. The analysis is based on the material of Russian and French folk-tales. The authors investigate two types of discourse: authoritarian discourse (it is the discourse of the authorities) and authorized discourse (it is the discourse based on trust). Special attention is given to the ways of overcoming the conceptual opposition. The authors argue that in Russian folk-tales the conceptual opposition is more often overcome due to the wisdom and ruses of the main hero. Meanwhile Christian values and care of one’s fellow creatures dominate in French folk-tales. In both the types of folk-tales there are cases when the conceptual opposition can not be overcome.
