Abstract:  The paper focuses on the new issues in linguistics in connection with its new theoretical principles and new medial format of knowledge mining. The authors reconsider the goals of a language worker’s methodological activity and appropriate tools in the framework of cognitive paradigm. Methods used: semantic and linguo-pragmatic text analyses, critical discourse analysis. A text is treated as a means for knowledge mining, generalizing, formatting and augmenting and text structure is presumed to be as a starting point for a discourse processing analysis. Therewithal the discourse is interpreted as a linguistic reflection of collective textual practice, and the discourse linguistics methods come into contact with those of cognitive semantics. The speech structure/text is the only objective extra conscious reality for a linguist. The authors can argue that semantic and structural investigation of language units sometimes turns out to be the only source of information about the cognition process progress and therefore the main means of a cognitive model validation. The paper presents methodological potential and research tools of modern applied linguistics for credibillity validation of linguistic observation results on the metalevel of cognitive generalization.

Keywords:  text structure, discourse analysis, knowledge engineering, ontology.
