CATEGORICAL DIVISION OF SCIENTIFIC AND EVERYDAY KNOWLEDGE

Abstract:  In cognitive linguistics the language is viewed as objectified human knowledge about the reality. The article considers the forms of categorical division of scientific and everyday knowledge. On a material of the German language the authors study a dynamic frame as one of the types of mental representations.
Dynamic frame is a typical form of storing information about a cognitive situation. This structure includes some significant semantic coordinates (categories) named “top slots” and related to the typical situation, on the one hand, and “terminal slots”, that describe the actual situation, on the other hand.
The common features in structuring knowledge of different types is the evidence of common categorical net. The most important categorical nodes in the everyday knowledge are subject, object, action, time, space and reaction. In the scientific discourse the most objectified structures are instrument, subject and object. The difference consists in the verbalization of these significant categorical nodes.
