THE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF THE CONCEPT LÜGE IN GERMAN LANGUAGE CONSCIENCE

Abstract:  The ideas of ethical norms recorded in language express value systems within a certain culture and define moral consciousness of native speakers. The author analyses the representations’ characteristics of the concept LÜGE which reflects the level of moral culture, moral foundations and ethical norms of the German nation in the German linguoculture. The ethical category represents the basic concept of ethics reflecting the most essential elements of morals. The ethical concept LÜGE is expressed in a cognitive criterion of the concept “ethics”. The concept is represented by units of various type – lexical, phraseological, proverbial, aphoristic.
The analysis of the concept’s name – LÜGE – in the definition dictionaries showed actualization of cognitive criteria in explanatory “ethics” in the German synonyms. The analysis of rate of the use of the concept’s name with derivatives in various contexts allowed to reveal an important cognitive criterion – “the ethical characteristics of a lie” which can be positive (barmherzig, blank, glatt, fromme Lüge) and negative (dreist, faustdick, frech, gemein, infam). The moral and ethical spheres of the concept LÜGE in the German aphorisms are differentiated on polar valuable signs: lie – positive essence / lie – negative essence. In publicistic texts of the popular German newspaper “Zeit” the criterion “immorality of a lie” – the negative characteristics of a lie from the point of view of moral values is expressed.
