Abstract:  The article is devoted to researching the emotive vocabulary, topical for today’s linguistics. The main topic of this work is to reveal features of kabardian women’s emotional expressions for exemplifying which the authors used literary texts in the Kabardian-Circassian language.
The language is known to be related to the culture, where features of national character influence the manifestation and expression of emotions verbalized in language – in this case in Kabardian-Circassian. Women in the Adygheyan society have a special position: while respecting men, they enjoy great authority and consideration. In Adygheyan etiquette, emotional restraint is prescribed. However, women in this respect have some great advantages, which are expressed in speech – more expressive and emotional.
Gender differences, first of all, are observed in the use of emotional interjections in speech that can express different emotions. Other expressions of (negative) emotions that are most characteristic of women are curses, which can vary in intensity. In the Adygheyan society where people are convinced in magical power of the word, the attitude towards such forms of emotions’ manifestation is negative. Crying is also more characteristic of women for displaying resentment, grief, pity and so on. Being a nonverbal reaction mainly to negative emotions, crying has many ways of lexical designation in the Kabardian-Circassian language (from individual words to connected units), these words express a different degree of the emotional state.

Keywords:  Adygheyan women, Adygheyan etiquette, expression of emotions, interjections, curses, crying.
