VERBALIZATION OF FUTURE THOUGHTS IN THE INNER SPEECH OF THE CHARACTERS (based on the German fictional discourse)

Abstract:  In the article the author analyses the linguistic means with future semantics which are used for mounting different types of inner speech of the fictional discourse characters.
As the material for investigation the author has chosen the novels of the modern German novelists, from which by means of continuous sampling the contexts of improper direct speech, inner indirect speech and inner monologue of characters, containing their thoughts about future, are extracted. The main methods of investigation are the quantitative and contextual methods, and the method of componential analysis.
In the German inner speech of characters in the fictional discourse the large repertoire of the linguistic verbal means with future semantics is used. The usage of these means depends on the type of inner speech and to what regime of interpretation: the narrative or speech (according to E.V. Paducheva’s terminology) do represented in each type of speech temporal relations belong. By the speech regime the inner speech of a character is opposed to the speech of the narrator and reveals similarities with the direct speech (in the inner monologue), while by the narrative regime the inner speech of a character becomes assimilated with the speech of the narrator (in the improrer direct speech and to a great extent in the inner indirect speech).
