LANGUAGE REALIZATION OF THE AUTHOR’S MODALITY IN THE NOVEL “THE MASTER AND MARGARITA” BY M.A. BULGAKOV

Abstract:  The article is devoted to researching language realization of how the field category of the au-thor’s modality in the novel “The Master and Margarita” by M.A. Bulgakov is represented. The object of the research is lexical, grammar and context language means of its representation. The main objec-tive is connected with the system analysis of modal and significant language means of fiction text within the field approach.
The authors used a descriptive method, the comparative method, a method of the semantic field, classification technique, a method of quantitative calculations.
The area of the results applied – cognitive linguistics, the linguistic analysis of the literary text, cultural linguistics.
The conclusions:
1. The analysis reveals the hierarchical system of the semantic fields, reflecting the author’s indi-vidual world view representing a complex of modal and significant language means of different levels.
2. The qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the researched category demonstrates that the field of the author’s modality is the system provided by a core, a near core zone and the periphery.
3. The core of the field includes images with a great number of most expressed speech illustra-tions. The periphery is presented by less significant illustrations, discovering the author’s “implicit manifestation”.
