NOMINATION IN NETWORK DISCOURSE

Abstract
The aim of the study is to analyze the process of nicknames forming and functioning in network discourse, to show the correlation of appellatives: onoma, personal names and nicknames in various kinds of communication and to show whether internet communication differs from real communication. The traditions of names giving are specific for each nation, e.g. the system of (sur)names in England appeared in the XI century and is closely connected with the history of the country: personal names and nicknames, places of birth and living, lands owning, family relations and labour are shown in Domesday Book, 1055. Specific features of network discourse (anonymity, distance, immediacy, minimum of charge for actions, non-verbal means of communication) help the users to create virtual language personality, different from a real one. Cognitive language mechanisms define the character of internet nicknames forming. The study pays special attention to the process of creativeness of onyms forming, which causes not only the image of a nickname but the expression of the communicator's selfrealization as well.
Conclusion: Artificial nomination (nicknames) is an important means of intercultural communi-cation. Globalisation gives a unique opportunity for productive anthroponymic system forming, which shows new trends in different areas of communication. Internet communication effects not only percep-tion of knowledge but helps to create desired virtuality. Individual creative features are considered in complex with mental and cultural cognitions.
